A little and a lot about me

A few years ago back in 2021, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, the same time my husband and I had just acquired 31 acres of land in Southern California to build an Eco-Village and Spiritual retreat center for our ministry.

At the time, I knew I wasn’t going to do the conventional western medicine route. I searched everywhere for answers joining every single cancer group out there.
You would be shocked by what I learned from doctors, health coaches, naturopaths, survivors, and families left behind.

After a few months of being depressed and going hard core with my natural treatments, my husband and I got an offer to go to Africa to shoot a documentary on the African philosophy of Ubuntu.

Of course I’m the Rootsdawtah!  So I said, “hell yeah I’m going to Africa and nothing will keep me here in America being depressed”. So that year we toured 10 African countries AND toured our very busy music schedule in between. I can’t tell you how many countries I have traveled in the last few years.

Building Community Here on Substack

These last few years, I had dropped off social media but have been collecting so much content at the same time. I got so busy with traveling, while healing and working, that it was becoming really hard to manage everything that I was getting exposed to.  But I felt it was relevant to saving my life and my sanity.

The things I would like to discuss and build community with are quite a few different topics, but I feel they’re all connected and tied in together with the Spirit of Ubuntu, the African philosophy.

The word ubuntu combines the root –ntʊ̀, or “person/human being” with the abstract-noun-forming prefix ubu-, which is why the word is sometimes translated to mean “humanity” or, more extensively, “humanity towards others” and “I am because we are.” The Zulu phrase “Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” literally means that a person is a person through other people.Ubuntu encapsulates ideas of human kindness, mutual caring, connection, community and oneness.

Join me in the Cosmic Mind

Joining me on this bus / train ride will help me align with people of like minds. I realized I have no time to waste. I’m tired of talking and ready for action. We can discuss on how to move humanity forward into light and life and then gather whenever we can.

Topics include all things Ubuntu and how it applies in my organizations and communities.
1. Stand Up For Justice - Restorative Justice
2. Divine Mother’s Love - Spirituality
3. Edentia / Edentia Wellness - Permaculture / Wellness
4. Rootsdawtah Collective - Music & Fashion
5. Life & Touring with Pato Banton - Through My Eyes

Since writing is a new thing for me, it should be interesting how I work this site. I’ll be starting some new blogs as well as adding podcasts, videos, and of course, downloadable music for the paid subscribers.

Sharing is caring so here’s a sample of my music…

Why is everything free and what’s in the paid subscription?

I feel the information that I’m sharing is too important to put behind money. I learned that when I got diagnosed I was so desperate to learn how to save my own life. I’ll share the story of how I lost my father to cancer treatments when I was 12. Basically I’m thankful for those healers who shared information and services with me.

One of the reasons why wellness is such a passion of mine is because a friend started a go fund me to help me with treatments. Since I didn’t raise enough to go to the bougie cancer clinics in Mexico, I had to find other ways. Quality wellness is a very big biz and these last few years, I’ve lost too many friends and family to cancer treatments.

Upgrading to paid supports my creative work and allows me to try different things that I love which are vital for me to stay alive and healthy. These recommendations can also help give people more comfort when they’re healing. We all get sick and anything we can do to stay out of the hospital I am game!

For supporting my work by the Creative Mother Spirit I will do a live recording meditation piece in 432hz specifically for you. Since I never play the same song twice, it becomes your own personal meditation and affirmations. You can use your own voice or no voice while I play according to your vibes.

Here Comes The Rootsdawtah is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
